The University has formally confirmed that the Centre for Lifelong Learning will remain operational as currently structured. We successfully prevented the proposed staff and program reductions. My focus now shifts to monitoring the implementation of this commitment to ensure these services remain fully supported.

People from all walks of life want to attend University for all kinds of reasons. Right now the University of Aberdeen’s Centre for Lifelong Learning enables them to do that in a really supportive environment. But the University is seeking to change the way these programmes, which widen access to Higher Education, are run. Their plans would remove most part-time programmes from the Centre and put the burden of supporting those students onto the Colleges. These plans would effectively begin a process of reduction and possibly even closure of our Centre. This cannot happen. In addition to the loss of the Centre’s part-time and distance programmes, the Summer School, which helps people get back into formal study and have a shot at a world-class education, is under threat because of these proposals. Aberdeen University Students’ Association and its members call on the University management to Save our Centre!

The education is one of the most important things in life, and must be open to everyone , without any kind of discrimination ,some times in our life we loose the opportunity to go further with our education ,even if we want it so much, forced of other priorities like to grow up our children /family or health reasons. Everyone deserves a second chance and the exceptional(and really supportive enviroment)work from Lifelong Centre prove it every day ,The role of the lifelong center is very important and crucial,We support it with all our strength to keep going and for the years to come!

THEY NEED TO KEEP THIS OPEN. Aberdeen needs to support people who work and study at the same time. Bad move by the uni.

This centre gave me my start when I was a mature student with nowhere else to go. Do not take this opportunity away from others.

Lifelong learning is what makes the uni accessible. Stop focusing on money and think about the people who actually use the classes.
