Petition to Dumfries and Galloway Council We the undersigned demand Dumfries and Galloway Council scrap proposals to close Activity Resource Centres across the region. The Council’s proposals which could close centres for adults with learning difficulties in Annan, Dumfries, Stranraer, Newton Stewart, Castle Douglas and Kirkconnel will have a serious impact on some of the most vulnerable residents of our region and their carers and relatives. ARC users rely on the centres to develop job and life skills and as an important opportunity to interact with others. In light of the Council’s failure to reassure carers that there will be suitable alternative arrangements for ARC users if the centres close we call on them to scrap the proposals.
