The Beethovenhalle in Bonn is a multipurpose building. There have been three halls with the name of Bonn-born composer Ludiwig van Beethoven. The second one was buildt in 1870 to Beethoven's 100 birthday. After the destruction of the hall during the Second World War the first activities for the new construction began. The third Beethovenhalle was built after plans and under the direction of the German architect Siegfried Wolske. In September 1959 it was completed and has since then been an emblem of the city and one of the most important buildings of contemporary Germany.
