Save 35th AVE NE from Urban Blight - Updated

Very few cyclists use 35th ave Ne. The only time I have seen cyclists --a few during the summer months. We cannot keep ignoring businesses and the public installing bike lane where they are not needed. Bicycle lanes were installed on Roosevelt ave from 80th north to 90th. It has made that road way dangerous. Barely enough room for car and busses to pass ( as the bike lane has taken up so much room--also when a bus stops to pick up commuters---the bus has no area to pull in --causing congestion.

A few blocks away, on 39th Avenue NE, there is a street most bicyclists use for transportation. It's really redundant to create a bike lane just a few blocks away. In fact, it's not necessary. I'd really appreciate it if the powers that be would listen to the people who live in Wedgwood and know how adding an extra bike lane impacts everyone.

There are enough bike lanes already! The small businesses that line 35th will not survive (let alone thrive) without adequate parking.

Leave 35th Ave. NE as is. It is bad enough trying to navigate at present. True, there is a fire station on 35th, also the NE Library, three churches and a Federal Post Office, besides all the other services needed for a village like Wedgewood and its surrounding residential users. Don't be ridiculous--SPEND CITY FUNDS WISELY.

I agree with all the negative impacts of the proposed changes. I do not ride a bike much now, but when I did the side streets were just fine.

35th Avenue is a vital transportation area. Its provides access to viable businesses, the library, and several faith institutions. I agree with he reasons stated in this petition. In addition to these reasons in the petition please note that the Burke-Gilman Trail is a few short blocks away and provides a commuting route for bikers. It is unrealistic to think that residents with small children and elderly will ride bikes to shop, visit the library, go to religious services and visit their doctors.Biking is great, but let's be reasonable. Let's not put a vibrant urban, business, faith street in jeopardy when bikers have safe alternatives on side streets and the Burke-Gilman.

Yes keep 35th ne street marked as for autos only. There are few bikes that use the street. It is already a very narrow 4 lane st. When busses and also some autos pass parked car, they must cross into oncoming traffic to some extent. There is no room for bike path too. Only way to handle that would be no parking on one side and put all parking on other side. NOTE parking is already not allowed early for south bound and late for evening north bound traffic. Bike lane would create an almost unusable street. There are quiet neighborhood streets that bikes can use. in lieu of 35th. It is just a change of mind of which st they use. Gilman trail helps a part of the situation. Problem with it is not being lite at night and could be dangerous. Good luck .

Bicycles pay for nothing, yet they are given more and more of our roads. Send them to Burke Gilman and leave 35th Ave NE without them.

The proposed bike lane on 35 Ave NE is a hazard due to the already narrow nature of the street. Busses and large vehicles must continually cross over the centerline in order to pass parked vehicles due to the street's width. As an avid bike rider I would never consider riding on 35th, bike lane or no, due to high traffic flows, speed of vehicles and extremely limited space between the curb and vehicles. Surely SDOT has better use of it's funding. Like repairing the poor surface condition of NE 55th St between 35th Ave NE and 25th Ave NE which is teeth rattling. It's like driving up and down a staircase. A resounding "No" to the bike lane on 35th.

35th Ave NE is not an arterial that has many cyclists. Impeding vehicular traffic with a proposed dedicated bike lanes makes no sense. . Parallel residential streets should be utilized and probably a cheaper proposition.

This is a fake petition designed to look like the original one and fool people. Look at the snarky tone it's laden with sarcasm and is not against the bike lanes at all. They even set the goal to 100,000 to discourage people. The real petition has a goal of 2000 and already has over 1200 signatures. This is too much!!! Voters did not vote for this, nor should we be paying for it. Our infrastructure is being crippled. The area is becoming denser with housing and you’re removing vehicle lanes? The numbers don’t justify this and the residents don’t want it.

We have the Burke Gilman trail and plenty of side streets for bicycles.

I have lived in the neighborhood for over 20 years and use many of the businesses on 35th NE. Stupid and short-sighted idea. Many residents in the area are retirees, families with kids to tote around and others who will not be getting on a bike to get around. Stupid and invasive idea. There is a already a bike street very nearby, 38th NE. Who the hell thought up this plan to screw up traffic on this arterial for a handful of bicyclists.? NO, we don't want it. LISTEN to the people who live here and conduct their lives here for decades. WE KNOW WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT.

A bike lane will be rediculous on 35! Far too many business and houses will have no parking!
