With the current budget cuts, youthwork Highland wide is facing serious cuts and many jobs are to be deleted.
This is a petition in particular to stop the Highland Council removing the job of Yvonne Boa, youthworker based in the Ullapool area.
Yvonne does much for the community and helps to tackle anti social behavior ammong youths. She gives up much of her time unpaid and organises many trips and outings.
She does alot of work with Youth Parliament and Youth Bank (an innovitive grant-making orginisation run by young people for young people) and she acts as a support for young people aged 12 - 25 wishing to make a difference in their area by helping them to become strong, confident individuals.
Yvonne is currently based in Ullapool but covers much of Ross and Cromarty, and she also works in Gairloch. This is a catchment area of roughly 130 miles.
SAVE YVONNE!
I have been hearing so many stories from families about how Yvonne turned things around when their kids had nowhere else to go. Her presence in Ullapool is the only thing keeping many of these youth programs alive while the council considers these reckless cuts.

Seeing this level of support reminds me how vital Yvonne is to the kids in our community. Her impact goes far beyond just a job description and it is clear that so many of you feel the same way.

The amount of work she puts in for youth bank is unreal. Highland council need to stop looking at spreadsheets and look at the real impact she has.

Cutting youth services is just asking for more trouble down the line. Yvonne is the only reason half these kids stay out of trouble.

Yvonne has been a huge help to my daughter. She actually listens to the kids instead of just telling them what to do. The council is making a massive mistake here.

Ridiculous cuts. Ullapool needs her. She does way more than what is on her job description.
