The Burmese military is notorious for its use of child soldiers. More than 5,000 children are currently serving in the military, not including those who were recruited as children but are now past their 18th birthdays.In June 2012, Burma and the UN signed a Joint Action Planin which the Burmese government and military committed to ending all recruitment and use of children in the armed forces by December 2013. Despite clear benchmarks, the military is failing tofulfilits obligations under the plan. We hope to achieve 20,000 sign ups by this December 2014 to support this.
