The city finally backed off and denied the permit for that subdivision at 1119 Hayne Road. We crushed those developers and protected our tree canopy for good. Stay alert because we will be ready to fight again if they try to touch our neighborhood.

Final supporters
We OPPOSE the subdivision of 1119 Hayne Road and the build of multiple homes because we value the unique landscape of the Yorkshire Neighborhood in Memphis. Single family homes have large yards where adults and children play. An abundant tree canopy includes flowering dogwood, cherry, and oak trees that support an abundance of birds and wildlife. Allowing a new subdivision in the midst of a vibrant neighborhood may not only change the immediate landscape, it can set a precedent that can forever change the character of Yorkshire.

The developers at the planning office are terrified by this surge of energy from the neighborhood. They thought we would just roll over and let them destroy our trees for profit but they have another thing coming.

Few neighborhoods have the distinctive charm of the area where this development is proposed. Infill may be desirable in some neighborhoods, but not in Yorkshire! Preserving the beauty and character of Yorkshire would benefit many far East Memphis neighborhoods, including Balmoral, where I live.
This issue affects ALL the Yorkshire neighborhood, not just Hayne, Edenshire Cove and Dee Cove. We're all in this together to protect our neighborhood. I strongly oppose this infill development at 1119 Hayne.
I already have all the neighborhood water flowing into the storm drain in my backyard, which partially floods with every heavy rain. My back yard cannot survive any additional water/runoff.
This past year, my husband and I restored the original farm house to the colonial acres neighborhood. We could have easily torn it down and built a quad plex, but we did not. We did what was right, and what honored our neighbors and the history of the community.
I have been restoring old homes in Memphis for 33 years. Theses homes are about the same age now as the midtown homes I started on back then. This neighborhood is approaching historic status. Please allow it to be preserved as it is.

Stop tearing down beautiful trees and nice looking homes. Redevelop older buildings in downtown and create more urban villages like Crosstown has done for midtown.
