We stand in solidarity with the community of the Yanonali Community Garden. In these difficult times we need more Community Allotment Gardens to build Community, provide support for people going through difficult times, and to allow people to grow healthy organic food for themselves. My husband learned to organic garden here some 40+ years ago. Our whole family has benefited. We need more not fewer plots as more people have to live in apartments. Keep the number and size you have here or add more here and maybe add at Vera Cruz Park if this little green space was underused before. It is immoral to take public park green space away from the people.

It is a shame to loose a lot of garden plots in favor of enlarging the existing park. We have many parks in town but only two community gardens where families can also spend quality time together and teach their children how to grow flowers, herbs and vegetables. It is education for children and joy for families to work together and realize that their children may enjoy learning how to grow vegetables organically and maybe learning how to cook them for lunch/dinner after harvesting. Families benefit from such experience and it is definitely a win win situation for the community . Please reconsider your decision and let the gardeners enjoys the fruits of their labor.

These gardens are a local treasure and sorely needed in the more densely populated sections of the city (like the Eastside). We should be expanding instead of constricting, particularly as working in gardens is such a great tool for preserving mental health through the recovery from the pandemic.

Leave the Community Garden space alone! If you need to limit the current size plot to one per household, so be it, but don't reduce the size of the current plots. As a daughter of two families that farm organically in their own back yards (here locally), I have a basic understanding on how this works. Based on the article I just read in the Independent, it doesn't sound like anyone from Parks & Rec even bothered to engage the residents in the immediate area about what they would like to see, or if they did, please share the info. Parks & Rec would better serve this engaged neighborhood by focusing on what's already there and enhancing the Gardens AND surrounding space for the community it serves.

What a beautiful asset, Community Gardens!! The City Parks And Recreation Department can surely be more creative, design even greater community garden plots around our city and engage a more
adventurous attitude for lawn maintenance. Time for the fence to
be planted in berries and passion fruit vines....

For many years, my children went to school at Adelante (then Cesar Chavez) and I frequently passed this community garden, and saw how well used and beloved it was. It's so important for people to be able to connect to the earth through gardening. Please save all the plots, and give us another community garden, too!
