As a westside gardner and original member of #FoodNotLawns having turned my frontyard into a veggie garden years ago. I am also passionate about saving the environment and as an advocate for health and safety, I strongly support community gardens as essential to building a stronger community and teaching us all about living together in harmony.... Please extend the Yanonali community garden rather than making it smaller ... this would be an act of love and peace for the people in Santa Barbara. Be and Act the way you want to see a better, safer world to live!

I attended public meetings with the Parks Staff and gave input. Reducing the size of the plots to 1/4 the size is unworkable and will completely change the nature and face of the Yanonoli Community Garden. This is not consistent with the input given by the gardeners or public. We will lose many long time gardeners who depend on the activity and source of food. Please re-consider the garden design immediately.

I am speechless at this disgraceful plan to uproot community gardeners! This city needs to visit Carpinteria to see what how a city that cares for its residents supports those who need space to grow food. You should be ashamed of yourselves to spring this plan on gardeners in need. If you really were in tune, you would be INCREASING the size and availability of food growing gardens in this city.

At its very best, Santa Barbara can create an entire city of edible landscapes. We can be a model community for gardening in every neighborhood! This is good for everyone! Community Gardens are important for kids, families, the elderly, the pollinators, the trees, reducing runoff--so good for the beaches, creating heat-sinks to cool our neighborhoods. So many good things grow from such important spaces! Let's go for more of these spaces, not fewer! You can do it!
