YQG has been a training tower for NAVCAN for years . It is also an emergency site for the Selfridge USAF National Guard. The unique mixture of aircraft ie. commercial ,corporate, private, military, makes the tower a necessity. ORNGE also operates and will likely be more flights after the new hospital is built less than 1 km from the airport.

Since 2009 after the air shows traffic has increased 300%. From current pilots to new trainees it's vital that the control tower stay in place to avoid accidents above the already crowded airspace over Windsor being used by 2 major US airports. Also at risk is the commercial airlines as well as transport lines that move in and out daily. Windsor needs the control and protection that the tower gives, not only to be accident free, but the economy as well.

ATC is VITAL to safe operation in this area. This is one of the most complex airspaces in Canada as we are in the middle of Detroit City, Detroit Metro and Pontiac airports in southeast Michigan. We need ATC!
