A while back, there was an article about Mala Wharf. According to the article, they plan on taking the water inland, with high end shops etc..Basicly they want to design it similar to Hawaii Kai Marina.
Hopefully this isn't the first step in a long term goal for investors.
Such as the names listed here. Probably multiple silent partners like a namesless LLC
The last thing Lahaina needs is a marina with high end shops and dining.
That'll screw up our coast line!
Try research it. I think I seen the article in the Lahaina News.

He is providing a invaluable service that the community in Lahaina needs and has been doing so for more than 30 years without any governmental assistance. He has invested his own money into the boat yard which now a greedy few such as Al Pelayo and Drake Thomas with their coercing of the State is now trying to steel it away from. Al Pelayo and Drake Thomas has been trying to get the boat yard away from Wilson Keahi for years to use as a dry dock and boat storage area such as Wilson Keahi has been doing for 30 years. Why is it OK for the both of them to want to provide the same type of service that Wilson Keahi has been for years while the state is alleging that it is not OK to do so. Al Pelayo has been scheming for years enlisting the help of people within the state to support his greed. If a new lease agreement is needed in order to rectify the misunderstanding, then the lease should go through a biding process of which Wilson Keahi and others have the opportunity put in their bids, but it was not, the biding was done behind closed doors between the state and Al Pelayo. I believe that an investigation should be conducted focusing on how Al Pelayo and the State of Hawai'i came to a conclusion or agreement that Al Pelayo would assume control of the boatyard. Al Pelayo is not trying to save the environment by gaining control of the boatyard it is a business venture no different than what Wilson Keahi has been doing.
