Save Wilbur & Fern: AMEND Ordinance 952

I have owned a potbelly pig an yes they are like dogs. Baby was her name an she was completly house broken an very loving.

Some people have dogs, cats, birds, fish or rodents as pets... and some people have pigs. What is the difference... let them keep their pigs. Rats could be considered dirty animals, they live in the sewers and ghettos, so why do you allow people to have rats as a pet? All animals can be clean and loving. Its the owners that allow them to become dirty that should not keep them as pets. Who is to say what animal can be kept as a pet and what animal cant. Pigs are intelligent animals, the farm raised pigs are abused and live in horrible conditions. Pet pigs are not. Let these pigs live in a clean and loving homes and leave them alone.

Save the pigs!

Pets ARE a part of the family. It shouldn't be a problem for anyone outside the home as long as the pigs are taken care of. Good luck to this family!!

Save the babies

The city and the animal control should be shot!!! The ordinace is as stated - for farming pigs not for domesticated pet pigs. Cut the family some slack and let them keep their pet (YES PET!!!!!!!) pigs.

I understand that such ordinances are necessary within city limits, but there needs to be provisions for exceptions and I believe an exception is in order in this case.

Pigs are special pets---please let them stay with their family!!

I myself have a mini pig though we live in the country with acreage she stays in our home just like our dogs & she is one of the best most loving pets that I've ever had!

Please let the family keep their pet pigs.

That pig is not hurtin anyone. It's a part of there family. You can't tell people they have to give up part of there family.

Of course there should be pet pigs here. There is in other parts of the country. What makes this part of the country less than anywhere ekse?

I also have a potbelly. She never goes outside. She has been spayed. Uses a litter box just like my cat. Best pet ever.

Let them stay.. They are PETS not swine... Think about them like children.. #SaveTheseBabies..

Worry about the folks that don't take care of their pets, the ones that are allowed to roam freely. Worry about the feral cat population, the unwanted kittens and puppies that are dumped each year !

There is a big difference between these beloved family pets and 'farm swine'. At 5 years old, they are done growing and will not get any larger, unlike their distant cousins, who could reach 600-1,000 pounds. Why should they be considered differently than the connection between dogs and the ordinances against keeping wolves, their distant cousins, within city limits? If time is taken to reseach the matter of pigs who are pets, then it would become obvious that the ordinance has become outdated. Establishing a difference would lead to these pets considered 'pets' and not farm animals.
