No healthy tree should be cut down when there are streets to clear of rubbish and detritus. Try clearing the plastic off the motorways’ verges, they are a hazard and prevent the trees from sucking in the vile polluting carbon …

Almost lost for words, but to start with, outrageous. It is a council gone mad. Please give us an example of where anyone has tripped over a apple.

This is a scandalous proposal, and I very much hope that the council reconsiders. Trees are an important and precious part of our environment. Apples are good food, not just for the locals who pick them up but also for wildlife. I do not believe that it's even physically possible to trip over an apple; either one would inadvertently kick it away or else it would be crushed underfoot, so the council's so-called reasons are nonsensical.

Why not form a community group approach and volunteer to sweep the path each day during fall time? Sure prune branches hanging over swings but leave rest of tree to thrive. , Why not put a gravel pathway around fall area that people can use during fall time...somany other solutions not being explored here or does the tree surgeon have back scratching friend on the council??????

We need to keep our trees not chop them down, especially for a ridiculous reason as this, can't people just look where they are going?

Put up a sign instead. If people should not be so busy looking at thier phone that they dont look where they are going.

Ridiculous proposal by Westwood Parish Council to cut down mature apple trees for such a trivial reason. UK needs more trees to help wildlife, tackle climate change and add to human quality of life.

Get rid of the cpeople who made this decision. They are far more dangerous than a few apples
