Save Westwood Park's Apple Trees

Trees are so important to the environment, especially now, and to many insects and creatures. Ordering the felling of these trees because of a tenuous H&S issue is so wrong and should be overturned.

The council is utterly wrong and completely out of step with both the people they're supposed to serve and prevailing public opinion. Woeful.

You want to chop down a key food resource for wildlife and humans, at a time people are visiting food banks and our children don't eat enough fruit??

Cutting the trees down would remove habitat and food from wildlife and diminish the local environment that people enjoy

this is ludicrous news. Has the local MP been informed? It's about time people started looking at the free resources that nature provides and protecting them. The Parish Council should be made to account for this crazy decision.

Used to climb apple trees as a child and very much enjoy the fruit. They are beautiful and should not be removed. Rob

No trees should chopped down

just rake up any apples on the path? The world has gone mad

H&S gone mad. People are not stupid. These trees have been there for decades. How many people have actually fallen over because of the apples??? Where is the council's proof that these trees need to be cut down??? Why not trim the branches back from the path if they are so worried. Put a sign up at the base with a warning.. it's more about no win no fee compensation claims than what's best for the community and wildlife.

This is completely unnecessary, just put up a disclaimer sign if the council are worried about injury.

The thought of cutting these trees down is shocking because of a few fallen apples. Is there no one that can clear these apples up by the council when the area is being maintained or is this too difficult!!!

This is Health and Safety gone mad to say the least, just REDICULOUS!!!! Leave those trees alone. Council obviously have nothing better to do with their time. World has gone Nuts.

Please don't cut them down. It is not what the community wants.

Wrong on every level. Read this in The Daily Mail. The World is watching this case. Unbelievable and shocking decision of the council. Someone needs to be held accountable. These apple trees provide food, oxygen, and life sustaining systems. Just have some volunteers pick the damn apples up and put them in a food bank. Or stick up a safety sign ‘watch your footing’. Simple. World’s gone mad.

It is ridiculous to even think about cutting these trees. Sheer madness from namby pamby idiots. Leave the trees and ban people from going near them.

In a time of climate change, of needing to protect Nature yet another insane Council decision. I'm convinced that to work in a Council you need to be an "special" kind of person with the brain capacity of an ostrich!
