Keep the lovely green space in Wallingford. Say no to artificial petrochemicals replacing a huge green space in our neighborhood. We already have lower woodland nearby and the schools have been using that and can continue.

They should not take away this park from the community. SPS knew they would not have a field when they built and opened the school, and that the park would remain for the community. Now they are walking back and not keeping their word. This field is so heavily used by all of Wallingford. Let’s keep it that way!!!

1. Turf is terrible plastic etc. need to use grass.
2. Get rid of parking lot at Lincoln and use it or or use field by gasworks
3. You are saying you are closing 17 to 21 schools, isn’t there a field at one of them that could be used?

A field would be fine, but the park would have to remain open for public use without reserving space and the playground and wading pool CANNOT be torn down! They are a godsend to the community in an increasingly densely populated area.

I agree with the others that the Lincoln parking lot could be used for building a field which could in turn encourage public transportation. I strongly believe Wallingford park should stay as is to provide a range of activities to a diverse group of people while maintaining a piece of nature our urban neighborhood needs.

I don't like giving up our neighborhood park for a sports field and would prefer another location. If it's feasible, the suggestion of removing parking in favor of a field sounds great to me, even if it means more staff & teachers will park by my house.
Wherever they place the field, I definitely don't think it should be astroturf. Grass is much better and worth the maintenance headaches. The plastics are awful for the environment, and it'll worsen climate change. It's also dangerous in other ways. My brother broke his leg in the 90s, because he was playing soccer on astroturf and it grabbed his cleats in a way that grass would not.

Use the Lincoln parking lot to build a field, encourage public transportation and keep Wallingford park natural! I’m a Lincoln parent and Wallingford resident and I strongly believe Wallingford park should stay as is (well improve the drainage but keep the trees and grass!)

Now that we know micro plastics are everywhere, this seems like insanity and a waste of money. It will be SO hot in the summer on that field. I am disappointed and appalled that this is even being considered

Removing the Wallingford playfield removes the ONLY green space within our entire Wallingford community, which benefits all ages of diverse interests. As a future HMS and Lincoln HS parent, I hope that this space continues to provide the current vast spectrum of activities to a diverse group of people while maintaining a piece of nature our urban neighborhood so desperately needs.

The proposed plans effectively eliminate the current usage of this community space, and the only green space in this neighborhood. This is not worth the limited benefits that come from installing an artificial field for a small set of high school athletics, when there are alternatives in available less than a mile away from Lincoln.

I'm currently an attendee at Lincoln High School and have been a regular user of the park for the entirety of my short existence. The fact either Hamilton or Lincoln (both schools I have attended or am currently attending) even have the ability to claim exclusivity to a public park is beyond me. As our planet continues to warm, artificial astroturf would have the opposite effect of cooling. The fake grass and chopped up, black plastic tire bits would reflect heat exponentially. Effectively creating a heat island in one of Seattle's most tree covered neighborhoods. Seattle Parks and Recreation also recently planted trees alongside the western side of the grass, would this mark the end for them?
