Wallingford Playfield has long been a community gathering place. Replacing this grass field with turf will mean that this treasured community space will be forever altered in the name of high school athletics. This park will be reserved by schools and rec leagues and will be less available for broader community use. We all deserve to use this park. Please preserve this beautiful resource for all to use! NO TURF AT WALLINGFORD PLAYFIELD! PLEASE KEEP OUR PARKS NATURAL!

Lower Woodland park has an underutilized gravel lot at 50th and Aurora that meets many of the needs of Lincoln Athletics. This would be a wonderful alternative that won't deprive our community of a beloved park.

UPDATE: What an amazing response from our community! Thank you for signing the petition. WE NEED YOU TO TAKE ONE MORE STEP. Lincoln High and other schools have access to lower woodland fields. They just need priority for use. The neighborhood and community utilize Wallingford park for multi-use multiple age groups including day care age children for no cost. Save the Park.

We rely on access to this park for our toddler son to have safe outside time exploring within walking distance. Having a space like this nearby is critical for coordination, strength building, etc during critical development years.

Keep Wallingford park for the Wallingford community. This is our local gathering place and a part of what makes our neighborhood feel connected and special. I’ve met many neighbors and new friends at this park and would be very sad to see it taken away from free play.

The turf field heats up really badly in the summer and is not pleasant to be on. It also gases petroleum vapors (in the heat) since the filler material is shredded rubber. We live in Wallingford, and we go to the park every day. We do not want this change!

The more I read the more I think a different location is preferable for the Lincoln HS sports field. My child starts at Lincoln next year and we live in the neighborhood nevertheless I think the Queen Anne location or the parking lot next to Lincoln are better choices.

Many families rely on this park and playground for play and activities with their children, mine included. Dropping in a giant turf field would disrupt the community, not enrich or benefit the majority. Keep the space natural grass and multiuse.

This is not the right area for turf. This transformation would be sad for the community.
