Help us encourage the New York City Landmark Preservation Commission to give the Villa Rosa Bonheur landmark status!

The Villa Rosa Bonheur is a grand old stone apartment building nestled on a wooded hillside along the Harlem River where it meets the Hudson. It is located at 2395 Palisade Avenue, atop of one of those long staircases that leads to the Spuyten Duyvil MetroNorth station in the southern part of the Riverdale section of the Bronx. This lovely old building is dwarfed by the big box apartment buildings that surround it.

The Villa was just sold, and the new owner has plans for rebuilding it, which could involve destroying the property because it does not have landmark status. Those of us who live near the Villa Rosa Bonheur, find this hard to believe and would hate to see the lovely old, cottage-like apartment building destroyed and replaced with something new.

We're in the process of submitting a Request for Evaluation for landmark status with the New York City Landmark Preservation Commission. Residents of a nearby building have also sent letters and filled out a petition to help with achieving landmark status. If you would like to help in that effort, please sign our petition in support of landmarking the Villa Rosa Bonheur. You can find out more information by going to Save Villa Rosa Bonheur And thank you.
