I am 73. I have been a member for 10~ years. I lost 60 pounds about 8 years ago and have kept it off. Since retirement I have spent 12-15 hrs a week and maintained excellent health. The combination of water, resistance and cardio/dance/Zumba are better than any alone keeping my core, joints and mental health strong. I have been had previous memberships at several other gyms but none provided the helpful, safe and judgment free atmosphere I found at VW.

Bring this back! This was a clean/ judge free zone. Helped elderly and the injured get well. Awesome program for the community!

Please dont shut it down. My dad was the regional director from inception until his retirement. It's the reason I live in NC. I remember walking around on its foundation. Save it.

Was looking forward to spending my retirement attending pool and land classes to help me get and stay healthy. We need this gym so much. Please reconsider.

Such a loss for the community. It was truly a family. I’ve worked there for almost 6 years. I was even an intern. So very sad. We have impacted so many lives and wish we could continue to do so. We make a difference every day in someone’s life. Please realize how Important the Vidant wellness center is.

This was one of the most beautiful facilities I have ever been a member of and part time worker at. It would be an absolute shame to watch this place close. The health and wellness of eastern north carolina would without a doubt plummet.

Please re-explore financial options that do not include the phrase “permanent closure.”

This gym is an amazing facility full of educated, talented trainers that focus on bringing health to our community. It is a great loss for this community.

It is clear from the outpouring of opposition to this shocking decision that the Vidant Wellness Center is more than just a gym to our community. It serves as a safe haven, a support system, a second home, and an integral part to so many individual’s mental and physical wellbeing. From the countless workouts, to the lifelong friends I made at Vidant, that gym (and especially the sauna!) will always be my happy place. I know that I will never find another gym that compares, and I will forever cherish my Vidant memories. Although I am far too familiar with corporate business structures to believe a petition will make a difference in this case, I am happy to do my part in helping in any way possible if there is a chance to revive our happy place! To all of my gym buddies and staff workers, I am thinking about you all and will miss you dearly. And specifically to our amazing staff: Stay strong! You all have an unparalleled work ethic, and your passion for health and fitness is contagious. Any wellness facility should be honored to make you a part of their team!

I have been a member since the doors opened after heart surgery in 1999.If Vidant wishes to keep the community healthy they need to address the fitness issue for the Greenville area.

Please reconsider permanent closure. Consider increasing membership dues or reducing operating hours and/or some programs to keep the doors open. Don’t understand how Ahoskie and Washington locations can remain open, but not Greenville.

My wife and I both love this place. It has been such a huge support while we have been in residency, and the CrossFit coaches have been phenomenal. We would gladly pay more per month if it helped keep the doors open.
