As a UWO alumni (and former athlete) I am very disappointed to hear about the cuts to the men's athletic programs. What a disappointment. I certainly hope this is reviewed and reconsidered in a more rational manner.

I never realized the Soccer budget was so miniscule. Geez, I paid for my son, Scott Deopere, to attend UW Oshkosh just for the opportunity to play soccer there. So, if one adds up the additional dollars I paid for out-of-state tuition, we genuinely helped subsidize the program because he would never had gone there otherwise. That would be the same scenario for the other out-of-state players. It would be interesting to assess how much was brought in to Oshkosh over a 4 year period from players who paid the extra out-of-state tuition. Furthermore, I would like my donated money for the special locker plaque in the soccer locker room returned to me!!

As a current college coach, I don't believe any sports program should be cut due to budget reasons. There are ways to correct the financial problem: fundraising, alumni donations, closer games, etc. UWO men's soccer (and women's soccer) is way to strong of a program to be destroyed in what I believe is a lack of understanding our sport. I believe this will impact more than UWO and the men's players, but all the youth players who look up to the UWO programs. Terrible decision on the AD's and Chancellors part.

As a current college coach, I don't believe any sports program should be cut due to budget reasons. There are ways to correct the financial problem: fundraising, alumni donations, closer games, etc. UWO men's soccer (and women's soccer) is way to strong of a program to be destroyed in what I believe is a lack of understanding our sport. I think the Chancellor should be held publicly accountable to the statements he made about "transparency" and "open discussion." There is an arrogance and sliminess about this that I would never have expected to witness from an institution in Wisconsin.

I have a son who plays soccer for UW Platteville. Playing against rival UW Oshkosh is always a high light of our year. To disband such a successful program is criminal and short sighted.

I'm a former Ripon College player and have coached in the area for a number of years. I also played with and against some of the UW-O guys. Besides the typically stated benefits of college athletics we need programs like this in the area for our youth to aspire to. UW-O, its alumni, players, and staff have helped to grow the game in the area.
