I competed against UW-Oshkosh for my 4 years at UW-Whitewater and I always loved the competitive games that we had. I think that this should not happen and will immediately disrupt a great rivalry, but further give the idea that soccer is a sport that is in decline, which is the exact opposite in our country. Further, I think this has the hopefully unintended consequence of having other soccer programs to be considered for a similar predicament, or prospective student-athletes to hesitate considering UW-Oshkosh for fear of future cuts that may make other sports necessary of such a disappointing fate. Perhaps it should have been considered to see if fundraising was possible to help continue the operation of the sport as it has been proven possible over the past 6 years with UW-LaCrosse Baseball. I think what is "owed" to your student-athletes is to give full consideration and turn over every stone, before closing down a great soccer program. What a terrible shame if this does happen!!!

The soccer program was incredibly important to a good friend of mine; I know that it made his college experience what it was, and it was most of the reason that he loved attending UW-Oshkosh. I think it would be a huge mistake to rid the school of a program that brings the school and students so much pride. Please don't cut the program.

PLEASE find a way to keep this program. The budget cuts have not even been made by Walker yet. It seems premature to start cutting. Also, how did the successful boys soccer team get on the chopping block so quickly? It seems to me that there can be other cuts made, in smaller acions across the board instead. Explain your rational how you decided to cut this program.
