Trying to make kids eat healthier? Do you think that moving a burger van will do this? Maybe you should try listening to the kids for once, maybe educating them further about nutrition and what they eat? As a pupil at the school, I can honestly say that taking a food van away is creating unhappiness and anger to probably every pupil in the school. You are going about it all the wrong way, making everybody angry. Maybe trying to listen to the kids and getting them on your side might be an idea not turning them against you. By telling kids not to eat this stuff, it is just making them want to even more. These people are doing nothing but making children angry, which is going to lead to worse problems than "unhealthy" eating. Moving this van isn't going to make a difference apart from causing such a big fuss, what about all the local shops, Lindas? Family Choice? That are only a couple more minutes away, are you going to start going to them too and asking them to stop selling school kids their lunch, the same stuff which the van also sells. The van has been there for 20 + years and never had there been a problem before. People need to have a serious think and try engaging with the pupils at the school who could offer better ideas to what would encourage their healthy eating instead of you being the bad guys.

They are not banning you from chatting to the kids. By all means you could set up a chat van.

I agree that the food at the van might not be the healthiest but my daughter takes a healthy pack lunch four days out of five so I don't worry about her Friday treat at the van. What I do worry about is if the van goes she will be tempted to head into Wishaw for her lunch. I would rather she was closer to the school and not feel the need to go into the town to buy some chips or a burger. I say save the van!

The van is taking advantage of the schools location. It is ridiculous that a health promoting school has a burger van right outside its grounds which serves food high in calories and saturated fat in a country where rates of teenage obesity is one of the highest in Europe.
I am in favour of the bid to have it removed and will not be signing the petition on these grounds.
God bless the van
