Torbay Hydrotherapy pool was opened in 1978 by The Duke of Edinburgh and funded by Torbay Arthritis Project. The pool is used by people of all ages with varying health problems. Patient referrals can come from a number of departments such as rheumatology, orthopaedics, physiotherapy, pain management, podiatry and paediatrics in both the Torbay and Teignbridge area.
The hospital is looking to close the pool because of running and maintenance costs and the need to expand the fracture and orthopaedic clinics. There is an obvious need for improvements to the clinics at Torbay Hospital but not at the cost of losing the pool. Once the pool is shut it is doubtful that we will ever have one again in our area due to rising costs and decreasing funds. We must act now or lose the facility forever!

I had a hip problem for which I'd had standard physiotherapy for over a year. Just 6 or 7 weeks of hydrotherapy at Torbay the plain was almost gone. We must not loose this facility.
So many people rely on this facility, it simply cannot be lost. It would be a travesty to close, what is to many, a lifeline.
Hydrotherapy for my psoriatic arthritis has turned my lite around. Please save the pool!
My son uses the pool for his condition and it makes such a huge difference to his mobility. Please dont take this away from the local community.
Used the pool for years for my back. The warm water is the only thing that helps. Very short sighted to close it down.
Hydro keeps arthritics mobile and helps pain
I know how important this service is to many people. It needs to remain open.

An invaluable resource for those of us in need. Once lost it will never be replaced so it is vital it is upgraded and kept.
