Hi! My name's Astrid. I am twelve years old. I'm usually not the type of animal-lover who starts protests about makeup testing on animals, or makes save-the-whales posters. But today, I realized that soon, if nothing happens, I won't have any animals left to love- nobody will. And if I want to stop that from happening, I need to take the initiative. I'm starting here, in the large web called the internet, with this petition. The Yangtze Turtle is an extremely rare species of soft-shell, large turtle located mostly in China and Vietnam. There is only one female Yangtze Turtle in the entire world that has, so far, been found, and only four total individuals of this species have been found, three male, one female. They are currently being kept in a zoo in China, watched closely and taken care of under captivity. It is hoped the turtles will breed in China. I began this petition after reading about this particular turtle in a science Magazine at my school. Intrigued, I started to research as much as possible. Finally, i wanted to do something about it. With enough signatures, we can stop others from harming the turtle and hopefully get some money to send to help feed and car for the turtle in China.
