The Wyoming Cowboy ChalleNGe Academy is a free, revenue neutral residential academy for nontraditional learners ages 16 to 18. The school is a fully-accredited, quasi-military academy that is open to Wyoming residents regardless of income level.
In addition to its traditional high school curriculum, the academy teaches leadership, job skills, coping skills and other components geared toward improving student attitudes and preparing them to lead productive, fulfilling lives.
The program is funded via cooperative agreement in which the state funds 25% of program costs and the Federal government pays 75% ($1 million and $3 million, respectively).
The program is being considered for permanent closure due to the state's $515 million budgetary shortfall.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people have stepped up to protect this academy. This momentum belongs entirely to the community members who refused to let these students be forgotten. I never imagined we would reach this point so quickly.

My friend's son just graduated from this and I definitely see the difference! If my own son keeps on the track he's on, I truly was keeping this program in the back of my head to be able to send him there when he turns 16. Please don't close this great program!

This Academy was a saving grace for my nephew. Traditional schooling was just not working for him, and this program is an amazing option for so many others who are in the same boat. I'm not sure how Wyoming found itself in such a budgetary shortfall, but don't make kids pay for it.

While being the Associate VP for Academics at EWC, I was pleased to meet some of the students in the program. I really appreciated their determination to try hard and their manners. Some teenagers need that structure. I highly recommend keeping the program.

This is a wonderful program. I have worked with many of these young ladies and gentlemen at the VFW in Guernsey. Please keep it open.

I came almost 1000 miles from the state of Wisconsin in 2014 to attend this program (which saved my life btw.) Cancelling this program will tarnish the name of Wyoming forever.

This program has changed my life as well as the lives of more than 1,000 young people that may have otherwise been lost in the system, causing the state precious funds. Instead they are productive citizens. Don't hurt Wyoming's youth to save money.

Without the help from wcca I would have the drive to be a contributing member of society

This is such a good program for youth. It would be a shame to see it cancelled.
