To think that someone would want to destroy such a major historical land site for the expansion of a KITCHEN?! It's absolutely appalling! Save this shop, and save an awesome piece of history!

Closing this shop is an attempt at gentrification and pushing anything away that paints the area in a less than spectacular light. This was an area of ill repute and let this be the beacon that reminds people of that. This is coming from a person with zero tats but a love for history and a great story.

I have greater respect for the Danes now, after seeing their King with tattoos.

In the USA, tradition, longevity, and age are revered in the business world. Signs declaiming "Since 1870" , or "Since 1982" , or even "Since 2010" are displayed to offer patrons a sense of reliability and expertise. "World's oldest" is a pinnacle very few may achieve and claim. Nyhavn 17 being the "world's oldest tattoo parlor", while significant in Dutch, Copenhagen and tattooing history, carries its greatest weight in the history of business, and is something which once gone, can never be restablished. While Tattoo Ole can continue elsewhere, if Nyhavn 17 is closed, it's history is broken and can never be reestablished even if the building owners have a change of heart. A kitchen can be placed elsewhere in the building without destroying a living piece of history. "Former site of the world's oldest tattoo studio" would be a mark of shame, "We threw them out to cook for you" will not draw clientele.

Tattoo Ole is an important piece of history. The location should be given status as cultural heritage and protected by the Danish Authorites.

This shop is a cultural and historic landmark and must be preserved. Please refrain from your self-serving attempt to evict your lawful tenant and find a solution which does not destroy an artistic legacy and iconic treasure.

I have no tattoos, but as an anthropologist, I believe it is imperative in the 21st century to link back to our 19th century cultural and historic roots. I hope this can shop be saved, it is something modern people need.
