Doctor, What will become of me if I can't remember who I was?

As both an academic and family tree researcher, it is crucial that cuts in funding for archives is kept to an absolute minimum. Without archives, how will researchers research?!

the archive collections at the Hive are not only regionally important, but some, like the Croome Court records are of national significance. These latter have only rece tly been expensively catalogued. to reduce access by budget cuts would be such a waste.

I hope that Worcestershire County Council will revisit this intention and decide against this enormous cut in funding. It is a very worrying piece of news for historians in Warwickshire also as the Worcestershire Archives hold a great deal of Warwickshire material.

These cuts will be hugely regretted by us and future generations. Just like the plans to shut 10 public libraries in Powys.

Museum, library & archive functions are key to what define us as civilised human beings. Cutting them undermines education, community and well being. Support of MLA services has benefits which reach deep into the fabric of our society.

It is essential, for so many reason, to keep this facility running and open to the public. just think of the investment already made.

An invaluable resource which must be preserved.

Auch a historic city and county, should value it's archives of all that anyone would want to research. It is important that people are able to research and learn about the social history of this beautiful area, that was my home, when I was a child, but I still hold dear to my heart.

Another case of County Coucils further depleting history and education........we only learn for the future by examining the past......not a lot of people know that........

And I thought we were supposed to be coming out of austerity? These services are so important for the future generations to understand the past in a meaningful way.

These kinds of cuts reduce the understanding of our heritage, make research more difficult and limit community involvement in protecting our heritage

Archives are vital for a civilised nation and access should be easy for everyone

The Hive Archive and Archaeology Department is such a valuable asset to the area. Its effectiveness will be drastically affected by such a large cut in funding. As well as the general public, the research work of the university is going to be damaged.

I am an honorary research fellow at the University of Birmingham undertaking research into the Black Country towns, in particular Oldbury, Halesowen and Dudley all of which belonged to Worcestershire during their history. Many of the records for the towns are in the collection of Worcester archives and I journey there regularly for research purposes. I based my BA, MPhil and Phd on the resources at Worcester - I would not have been able to achieve my Phd in particular - which was a micro study of the town of Oldbury - without these collections. I appeal to you to keep this opportunity open so that other students are able to use these rich resources.

Please save our cultural heritage by preventing financial cuts to heritage projects like the historical moat site in the centre of Feckenham. Thank you.

It is so important for future generations to learn that local sites played a huge part in the history of our country dating back to King John.

These records are essential for us to understand our past but also learn from to help in the future. It may seem on the face of things that you are saving money, but it may cost you more in the future.

This is an invaluable resource and service - please find the funding.

Very sad to hear that funding is going to be cut. In my opinion history is such an important subject.
