I know plenty of people that took photography, and the dark room was a great introduction that sparked a passion for the art. As far as historical importance of a darkroom in the progress of photography, it is important to include something from the beginnings of photography.

There's no reason the darkroom shouldn't have a place at Priory. It has just as much a right to exist as the gym, the PAC or the robotics area. A lot of kids use it, so it's not as if it's a waste or only caters to a few people.

i believe that this should be protected and preserved as it is a memory to all of us and serves a historical purpose to this world. this should be saved to allow more students, teachers, and, in general, everyone to have a chance to be here and experience

Many of my friends who have taken photography at Priory have found the darkroom to be a sort of safe haven for them- an opportunity to practice their art in a way that is growing extinct among young people. For the sake of the practice of film photography and arts at the Priory, please preserve the darkroom. Just as it would be unacceptable to have blueprints for school buildings that didn't include a gym or a theatre or a band room, it is unacceptable to exclude the darkroom from plans for the Priory's future.

Even though I personally haven't been affected, it seems to be a very special place~

I took Fr. Martin's photography class about 10 years ago and there is just something magical about the darkroom. Young photo students learn so much about light and its importance to photography by being in the dark room, so I think it's an indispensable tool when learning about making images. If there is any way to include a dark room into the plans for the new stream building, I would be absolutely overjoyed.

I am a student at the Priory, and the darkroom has given me an opportunity to work with film that cannot be paralleled by working with digital photography. Preserving the darkroom is preserving future students' right to this experience as well as a chance for them to grow as a photographer, as I did.

I'm taking the photography class this year and learning film photography is definitely the most fun and memorable experience I had in the class so far. Having the resources and opportunities to learn how to use a film camera and develop film in the dark room helped me mature my understandings towards the history of photography. I also learned to appreciate black and white photos more. The dark room needs to be preserved as it is an important memory for all of the students that have taken photography.

I am a student at Woodside Priory and am taking photography class this year. The darkroom has really helped me develop my skills as a photographer because, although film photography has been a challenge for me, it has helped me understand the basics that are needed for this class.
