Wake County Sheriff Gerald Baker is ending the Senior Well Check Program. The Well Check Program was put in place to serve residents of Wake County who are 65 or older and live alone. At 3:00pm everyday, an automatic call goes out to all residents enrolled in the program. If there is no answer, a second automatic call goes out, followed by a call to a family member. On the third attempt of trying to reach a resident, a deputy goes to check on the resident. Currently, there are over 100 residents on this list and many others on a waiting list. Sheriff Baker says that he vowed to serve all of Wake County and this program only serves a small fraction. Sheriff Baker also stated that if a family member is concerned about their loved one, they can call the sheriffs office and they will send the closest deputy to check on them. By signing this petition, you are voting to keep the Senior Well Check Program in place in Wake County. This petition will be sent to Sheriff Gerald Baker.
