I am an Award-Winning Writer-Director/Producer - it's my job, my profession, my passion ... my life. THIS is such an important cause. I have a filmmaker visiiting from out-of-town and told him about the Smokestack, and when I looked up some more info was exactly how I found out about this travesty. This is ABSOLUTELY a landmark, and should be preserved as such. Perhaps I should make a documentary about this. THIS is a cause that is near and dear to my heart, and I am very sad to see that saving this studio is not a done deal yet. We have to make it such. Let's Save The Vitagraph Smokestack!!

This is one of the few items around that commemorates NYC as the birthplace of the film industry. Please keep it as a quaint memento of that time. We need these touchstones in our communities; they remind us of what came before. It lends personality to a changing and frenetic landscape. Please preserve this uniquely labeled structure, and allow us to keep a little of what has otherwise been lost to time.

If you tear it down it will be gone forever. Nothing left to tie the community to it's famous past.

Such a cool part of Brooklyn history, why would anyone want to get rid of it?

Film history must be preserved. The smokestack is a remainder of a famous film company.

Tearing down this historic landmark would constitute an act of cultural vandalism akin to (God forbid) a terror attack to some major Manhattan monument.
