It is mind boggling that there is a plan to remove a landmark that is historical and defines our neighborhood. It is our Eiffel Tower. It can not be returned once it is gone!

Besides being architecturally beautiful, it's a fabulous reminder that the film business was born in New York, not Los Angeles. This is a symbol of being Brooklyn Proud!

This is a very significant part of film history. I hope this smokestack gets saved. Brooklyn is more than a sanitized demolition ground for greedy real estate developers.

So muxch of the Vitagraph Studio has been altered into unrecognizability. THis smokestack, with the name of the studio visible from it's eastern side is a reminder that this studio was a part of the history of Midwood, a quite significant part of it. It does not intrude on the function of the parking lot where it is located. So I see little reason to have it removed.

If this part of Brooklyn matters as much as the other parts, it should take care to protect and celebrate its heritage.
