The smokestack is part of our nation's film history. As long as it's structurally sound it should be preserved. Once it's gone, it's gone.

This is the last remnant of Vitagraph Studios from the days when New York, not Hollywood was the home of the film industry. This should and must be preserved!

Brooklyn history is in danger with the huge wave of development that is hitting it. Let's hold onto the things that remain - the Vitagraph smokestack represents the long history of talent and innovation that has come from our borough. And it is a beautiful landmark.
