the fate of club should not be decided solely on the basis of profit. this is the most important common space faculty and staff have on campus and should be supported by the administration - perhaps using development funds

We need the Club as part of our community. It is also necessary for taking out job candidates, donors, speakers and others. It is very important for faculty to eat there everyday—critical part of information flow.

I can't believe we have to petition for a place to gather and eat with special guests as well as with colleagues. Only at UW, where the bar is, well, low.

The UW Club was the only place on campus where we could always extend UW hospitality in style to a whole range of visiting VIPs - ambassadors, heads of state, influential community members and others - in the process of building lasting relationships that have benefited UW immeasurably.

I come from a third-world country. Even there every public university has a faculty club or lounge where they can eat, celebrate, or simply hang out. It helps to create a community across disciplines. It gives new faculty members and staff a sense of belonging to the university, not just to a department. As a new faculty at UW, one of the best universities in the world, this is unimaginable and shocking that we do not / will not have such a place! Please do consider re-opening.
