I think the univ club is a good idea but should not replace but rather coexist with the common room They serve different functions

No reason why there shouldn't be room on campus for both the Common Room and the new facility.

The Common Room is a relaxed place where everyone who works in UCD can meet on an equal footing. No other venue on campus offers this sense of community.

It is a disgrace that the common room which provides so much for so little should be closed to allow a vanity project.

Informal spaces like the UCD Common Room are important to the intellectual life of the institution. As a visitor to the Common Room, I've made connections there that I would not otherwise have made and witnessed beneficial exchanges of ideas taking place. In my experience, such interactions rarely take place in the formal atmosphere of a university club, which serves a very different purpose.

As a former undergrad, postgrad and teaching fellow, I was shocked to hear the common room might go. It should 100% stay.

As a regular visiting lectuter from the private sector, the Common Room is a vital place to meet and chat with colleagues from the university. I won't be visiting any other proposed facility on campus.

The best collaborations in academia take place in relaxed and informal surroundings. Seems to be folly to remove a successful and much loved common room which has already become known as a hub for generating good will and.colegiality ,leading to successful multi disciplinary activity in Irish research .

I fully support the #savethecommonroom campaign and will not join the new university club or use the faculty if the common room is closed
