As a city, we have failed dismally to preserve our maritime history, Queen Mary,
Queen Elizabeth, QE2 etc. So it’s about time we try and save what little is left!

Find a viable use for this vessel. Southampton has in some ways been very active in conserving and interpreting its history, and furthermore has invested considerable sums in this aim. Surely there must be a role for a tangible element of the history of the port in enhancing the visitor experience of people to sea city or the city more generally?

Tugs are so evocative of the heyday of Southampton port and the liners. Calshot is a superb example and should remain as part of our transport and industrial heritage.

We as a nation do pretty much nothing to preserve our outstanding maritime heritage, we can't let another piece of history go.
Happy to show my dedication to maritime history.
