I understand this is Father Thoroughgoods parish. He has practiced the TLM for a large proportion of his time as a priest and there is still plenty of need and desire for the Latin Mass, particularly in Adelaide. This can be evidenced through the continual growth of Holy Name and regular attendance of Walkerville. While I am not attending the TLM myself, I can see the need for it and that will never dissipate.
The Archdiocese seeks to bring new people into the church, however doesn't acknowledge the demand in youth for tradition and bringing the mass back to its fundamentals. As a youth and knowing plenty of Catholic youth in Adelaide we must ignore the political agendas pushed by the world and try to sell the mass and Catholicism on empty progressive values. This has and will only continue the downward spiral the church has been facing in recent times.
Let the people choose their own mass, and see where the numbers and financial contributions come from.

Fr David Thoroughgood, known to me and my family for decades, has been a source of true Catholic education and support. He celebrates the Mass of the Ages, the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM), with great reverence, inspiring the community in prayer and through his homilies. The growing TLM community, which I have witnessed since the 1980s, surely should be provided with greater opportunities for attendance at the TLM, both with respect to locations and times. Cancellation of the Traditional Latin Mass at St Monica's Walkerville and Sacred Heart, Hindmarsh, is restrictive of the celebration of the TLM and I believe challenges and inhibits many from attending Mass. Most importantly, the celebration of the TLM, the Mass which through centuries has formed and been loved by many saints, the offering of the Sacrifice of Calvary, I humbly request should be promoted and propagated; more priests should be invited to offer the Traditional Latin Mass, in their parishes … In conscience, I struggle to attend a Novus Ordo Mass, where I am confronted by a ‘show’, by lack of reverence to Almighty God, to the Blessed Sacrament present on the altar … and find myself not praying, but questioning whether I am offering a valid Mass… May the Holy Spirit enlighten and guide the Most Reverend Patrick O'Regan, Archbishop of Adelaide, and all members of the ecclesiastical authority of the true Church of Christ, in all their decisions; may their decisions always be in union with the will of God.

Dear Archbishop, the Latin Mass at St Monica's, offered by His faithful servant Fr Thoroughgood, has nourished so many souls and is a place of quiet, reverent worship. To rid the faithful of this would be a grave injustice. The message that this sends is one of disunity and judgement towards those with a preference for the Latin Mass. In the words of Pope Benedict XVI: "to have the love and tolerance to let [the faithful] live with this liturgy seems to me a normal requirement of the faith and pastoral concern of any Bishop of our Church. There is no opposition between the liturgy renewed by the Second Vatican Council and this liturgy."

The Walkerville latin mass had been important to me for a long time. I would attend the 645 mornings ever since my first daughter was born 8 years ago. I live very close by and it is so lovely to be able to still take my young children to the quiet mass in the mornings. Going together with my daughters to the Saturday morning there and then walking down to get breakfast at the cafes with my mum (Nana to the girls) has been a long standing tradition. We would all be very sad to lose our neighbourhood church with Fr Thorouhgood's mass. If the church isn't needed for anything else in the mornings, please can our little congregation stay?

I pray in Jesus' name and thru the prayers & intercession of Mother Mary, of St Joseph, St Anthony & all the angels & Saints that Archbishop Patrick O'reagan will allow the Latin Mass to continue in Walkerville, Morphett Vale & another parish whose name slipped mind. May the good Lord touch his heart & open his eyes for the 'Church of Christ,' 'the people need the Latin Mass for another 100 years. Thank you!

Dear Bishop. There is simply no need to do this. Please reconsider - it only hurts the faithful and Fr Thoroughgood is an excellent priest who cares for souls. The energy of the Church leadership should be channeled into building up the faith rather than shutting down places where it is flourishing

Your Grace, we love you and the Latin Mass, please allow Fr Thoroughgood to continue to offer up the sacrifice of the Tridentine Mass, the prayers and the reverence are beautiful and instills an interior life. Many parishioners have been spiritually fed attending Masses offered by Fr Thoroughgood, he is a humble priest who works tirelessly for his flock. Thanking you in advance through Mary Immaculate.
