This is an important local resource for families with young children. I totally agree with Councillor Griffiths' comment that investment in early years of childhood can prevent bigger problems in later life.
The trouble is, it is difficult to quantify in money terms what is saved in the future by early investment.

Never thought I’d see a Labour Council doing this. It’s so reminiscent of what the Wandsworth Tories have been doing since the early 1980s.

please do not close this wonderful local facility, its been an incredible space for me and my family throughout the years. London is a very expensive city and facilities like this one make such a big impact on the upbringing of less disadvantage children, specially those who otherwise cannot go on regular holidays or have access to nurseries until the reach 3. It would be heart breaking to see this wonderful plave vanish.

I agree that Lambeth should find a way to continue funding this and other threatened children’s services. The website for the Streatham centre clearly vaunts the great value of seamless provision of services in early years. It is of critical importance that we are able to offer the best provision locally and thus help communities to thrive.

As Lambeth has one of the highest levels of youth violence in London and has a massive chasm between the most privileged and the least it is criminally negligent for Lambeth council to prescribe closing 5 children's centres and limit the opening hours of a further 7. The long term consequences are dire and it will cost far more both in human misery and financially to save a little money in the short term. Follow the Green policy of reducing your reserves slightly in order to maintain current children's centre provision. Our children will thank you for it.

The most important years for development, cognitive social, emotional are years 1 to 5. Why would you close centres down ? So u can deal with any problems at age 15???? It doesn't make any sense.

It will be a terrible loss to the children and parents in our community if services are cut at this very popular and well used Centre.

Critical resource. Needs to remain open with sustainable funding.
