I love this zoo! I grew up with it (in Melrose) and have continued to love visiting it no matter where I live. It is JUST the right size: small enough for the young ones to explore, with a never-ending wealth of new insights for grown-ups, too. Please preserve this treasure!

Why on earth would you want to close this local treasure? I am an animal advocate and have visited the Stone Zoo many times. It is an example of what a small zoo should be; well cared for and tended to animals, well cared for grounds, intelligent and dedicated staff, incredibly educational for families, and an asset to the community. It generates jobs, stimulates the economy and serves a valuable purpose in the community. Don't make a huge mistake and close this zoo!

This zoo benefits not only our directly surrounding communities but all of the guests who come to Stone Zoo from towns much further away to enjoy a fun learning experience in a safe and welcoming environment.
