The bill was pulled and the wetlands are officially protected. My hands are still shaking from the news but I am relieved we finally stopped this. Keep watching the council because we know they do not easily give up on these plans.

I stand with TNASPCS in supporting the Endangered North American Snipe. Vote NO to House Bill 7456 which proposes to overturn protection of the Columbus Wetlands Region of Central Ohio.

The momentum behind this effort has grown into something I honestly did not think was possible when I started. It is exhausting to keep fighting, but seeing this level of backing keeps me moving forward.

I’m ashamed to say that when I was a kid my friends and I would go snipe hunting at camp. We took flashlights and empty pillowcases and stood ready to nab them ... I shudder to think I contributed to the near disappearance of this amazing species. I’ve determine to dedicate my life’s work to saving the Snipe!
I confess to participating in a snipe hunt as an 8th grader. I looked and looked through all of the underbrush, followed snipe tracks but alas, never found my prey. When I became educated as to their true plight, I cried at my shame. I now vehemently support their endangered status and will set my sights now upon those who seek to eliminate this majestic creature! #savethesnipe
I remember the snipe bringing me such joy as a child. It is a shame that the children of future generations will miss out on being able to see them in the wild, not to mention the impact on the environment with their loss. Save the snipe!
Columbus, Ohio's favorite son Alexander Bonner Latta once said, "as go the snipe, so goes Central Ohio." This has never been as true as it is today. We must protect our wetlands.
There was a snipe on the grounds of Lord and Lady Hobbylark’s Mid-Spring estate, and they greatly enjoyed its melancholy song, particularly when accompanied by young Lucius Hobbylark on the glass harmonica. Please help save these noble creatures.

It was not long ago when the Snipe was considered a State treasure. But, like a lost love we have turned our back on what could have been. Can we risk the killing of any species? I say no. Not today, not on my watch. I did not put on a uniform every day for us to destroy a treasure. We need to tear down party lines and not let this Bill pass.
