Moving the law school is a horrible plan

Relocating across 75 to a more modern building is not the solution to compete with A&M. The way that SMU has gone about this whole ordeal is embarrassing, especially considering the law school has produced some of SMU’s most prestigious alumni.

This move will affect recruiting for a distinguished law school. Moving it to a high rise off of the highway is not the answer.

The law school is an iconic anchor of the main campus. That’s where it should stay. A generic, unoriginal glass building in Dallas is not a fit.

Like many students, I was faced with several attractive options when deciding where to attend law school, including several schools with modern facilities. A huge part of why I chose SMU was the beautiful historic campus and proximity to the undergraduate facilities. Moving campus across the highway is a choice that remains hugely unpopular with students and alumni. I hope the administration reconsiders this terrible choice.
