Don't ruin one of the best places in washington. Instead, upgrade/repair the fountains and create programming around it (app to learn about plants/sculptures) or host public brown bag lunches with activities. Or more thematic rotating public plant displays.

Such total destruction (not even the decency to make moderate changes) of a beautiful, open space as a result of proposals by outsiders, without a period of consultation, from the community, is criminal.

I would like to add that any new plan also consider a creative reuse of Arts and Industries. What a shame that building has not been left empty.

This garden is a delight - an oasis on the Mall for tourists and residents. It's a classic example of the formal European style garden that compliments the Castle building so well and rounds out the different types of gardens that make up the Smithsonian Gardens collection. It would be criminal to destroy this lovely garden.
