The Smell is by far 1 of the best venues. Not only because of shows but history. I mean, look at the bathrooms and all the writing on the walls. It's pure history. I mean you can have a show anywhere, but to be able to say that you saw a legendary band there is really great. Not only that but some bands have their first shows there, even if they're the small 1 on the bill. I mean it supports something radical.

moving to the city from the east coast, the smell gave me a launch point for my music when no where else would. save art, save the smell. thank you to jim for everything you do and have done.

The Smell is a venue of great importance to the ongoing history of indie culture in Los Angeles and North America. My feminist punk rock band, Mecca Normal, is just one of thousands of bands that have played The Smell. The cultural value of The Smell is immeasurable. Do not demolish this venue.

such a terrible feeling in my stomach to think that an amazing outlet for artists, musicians, etc. and all the wonderful moments that were created throughout the years in this space will be gone. The Smell played a big role in my personal growth and IS an amazing part of history. This is not ok.

SAVE THE SMELL. There's not a lot of places like it where young artists can show their work and I absolutely love it. It's beautiful in every aspect. I've never seen such love and passion for art and talent and music and I really hope they save it

I first took my boys to see a band perform at The Smell about 13 years ago, I remember thinking then, what a great place for young artist to gather. After attending countless shows and events over the years at the Smell, I can very confidently say that if not for Jim Smith and this establishment, who knows what may have happened to some of them. He has provided a safe, drug/alcohol free, creative environment for all and for some a true purpose. I have been an LA resident my entire life and cannot express the importance of this DIY space and all those that have and will continue to benefit from it. Friends have been made here, lives have changed, careers have been started. Not only is it a cultural/historical landmark, the Smell, Jim Smith and all those who have passed through those doors are an integral part of the community, a true family! Please allow the artistic to thrive! Save The Smell and all it's neighbors!

This is the one place where people can put aside there differences in the world and come together and enjoy a little culture music and art. It would be robbery of the world if the smell disappeared

I first went to the smell while I was in highschool. It ended up being my first scene, and as a non-alcoholic club it was a safe place for my friends and I to get involved in local music. I ended up bringing my fiance there, my best friend there, and my brother there before I decided that whatever it was, it was truly a special place and had a vibe of brother and sisterhood throughout the crowd, and was a great way to find yourself in a true indie scene. The smell is nothing less than a Los Angeles landmark.
