This is the most important all ages venue in Los Angeles and it has been so for over 15 years. Good people are here.

If anything you should be making more venues like this, not taking them away

I've been going to shows at the Smell for well over a decade and it has stood the test of time. Nothing has changed there, and that is a good thing! In this era of gentrification that is happening throughout the city, we need to save The Smell & many other cultural institutions that Los Angeles has to offer. It truly is a Historic Monument and an important part of the local and the worldwide music community. SAVE THE SMELL!!!

So many memories here! Keep the few monuments we have in LA! Don't let NY be the only city with history left.

The Smell is a necessary and well-loved Los Angeles institution. This is a travesty

I moved here from the east coast a few years ago. After spending my entire social youth deeply involved in my local music scene (Baltimore and D.C.), I felt very lost when I moved to the LA area. For the first few months, I wasn't aware of any DIY or local scene here, and I longed for a similar place to enjoy local music like I had back home. Then a friend invited me to a show at The Smell and I can't begin to tell you the amount of immediate relief and comfort I felt knowing that I had finally found a place in LA that was dedicated to the same raw love of music that my venues back home had been. I'm heartbroken to hear that this gem might be taken away from us. The Smell is not only a historical monument in the Los Angeles music scene, but is also a lifeline to countless individuals like myself who live and breathe music. Please, PLEASE, reconsider the demolition notice on this amazing place and help preserve the happiness that this place brings us.
