This venue helped me break free from all the self doubts I had about myself, it taught me how to socialize with like minded artists and musicians because for years I was just a self conscious wreck. I will forever be grateful to this special magical place and to Jim Smith for helping me grow as a more aware individual. This venue is important to all who struggle everyday to find out who they are, what their place is in this world. It's an extremely important space for growing artists and musicians, which is why we should do everything to save it for future generations of artists and outcasts.

Originally from Texas, I fell in love with the community, bands, openness, and awesomeness of the Smell while studying at LMU and DJing at KXLU 88.9FM between 2010 and 2012. Moving to Dallas after graduation for a documentary production was hard, but the amazing shows I had witnessed during that time from Foot Village to Dirt Dress, Moses Campbell, Mikal Cronin covering Wreckless Eric with Ty Segall, and many more are memories I will cherish forever. Without question, it all had a lot of influence upon the work with shows and music I am now doing in San Antonio. The Smell is a historic LA institution, and should absolutely be saved for that reason. However, I'd really like to stress to the owners of the building that, in addition to providing a powerful beacon of positivity and expression to the LA community, this spot has undoubtedly touched and profoundly changed the lives of many people across the country. That kind of value is truly priceless.

Parking in downtown sucks, but that doesn't mean you should eviscerate the culture that makes people want to park there in the first place!

Such an important & integral part of the LA music scene! This should be a historical landmark, not a parking garage.

This has been one of the greatest places for creative people to gather and share similar interests. It has housed so many awesome shows and art, it can't be taken away from us LA kids.

Great part of LA's music history. My friend's band Best Coast had their start here.
