I moved to Portland a few years ago, but I have some formative memories for my high school love of music. Losing this space would be a disservice for the community, musicians, and anybody who's under 21 and can't see great affordable shows/aren't encouraged to try and make music.

As a resident of the same neighbourhood of The Smell for three years, I can personally attest to this venues immense contributions to the culture of the historic core of DTLA, as well as Los Angeles culture as a whole. Destroying this cultural landmark will further degrade the already thinning cultural landscape of Los Angeles that was once so rich.

This venue is a cultural Los Angeles landmark. It is the only venue of it's type in Los Angeles. The destruction of this venue and the surrounding buildings is essentially wiping out what makes Downtown Los Angeles great.

The Smell doesn't deserve to be taken away from the community. It has helped shape the music scene in LA and the fact that so many locals are enraged should send a hint to the owners of the building that they shouldn't tear down a place that enriches the community. Find a different place for a parking lot.

This venue is a legendary place for the music scene that anyone and everyone should have participation in. It would be horrible to perish this place as it is a place where more great shows can take place in!
Keep DIY in DTLA
SAVE THIS VERY SPECIAL SPACE!!!!!!!
