It's a drug/alcohol free place that's all ages and encourages teens to have fun legally. I personally love going to shows there with friends.

Years ago I stumbled upon the Smell because of a Kimya Dawson show where she had a surprise Moldy Peaches performance. The space was intimate, inclusive, secretive, and literally the epitome of the LA underground scene. There were Angelenos of all ages, the environment was safe, felt like home, and gave me the opportunity to be on stage with one of my favorite musicians. the fact that you had to find the Smell through an alley was incredibly intriguing. That was almost 10 years ago and the memories still emanate through my brain. Years ago traveled down the same alley way on a late night to find the doors closed. It was extremely saddening as the vibe of the Smell was so unique and the community that it harnessed was even moreso. It felt like Los Angeles, like home. SAVE THE SMELL AND SAVE HISTORY!
