Just open the fence to let them out--that's how simple it is. Or are they looking at the money made from what will become veal ?????

this decission seems typical of a large company to pick the easy option with disregard for nature. we need to ensure they are relocated not killed.

Any necessary culling of deer should be based on the oldest/sickest creatures present, there is no excuse for profligate extermination to resolve a matter which should have been foreseen and avoided.

It may cost more and they may have to be patient to tranquillise each of the deer but I am sure it

It's not the deers fault that their habitat has been enclosed surely they shud have been moved before the fence erected

There's no excuse for unnecessary slaughter. If this small herd can be culled surely they can be tranquillised and relocated? Appalled to read of such a barbaric approach.

A small and easily sustainable herd. Could easily be moved.

It's difficult not to suspect another motive for culling rather than liberating them...ie a fear that they may be radioactive.

I am disgusted at this - once again profit before wildlife. There must be a way of moving them. Surely someone can provide a solution to save them. Come on sellafield show some humanity.

Sellafield routinely cull wild animals to attempt to prevent the spread of radiation. The plight of the deer is a metaphor for the rest of us trapped with no where to run from an increasingly aggressive nuclear agenda. free the deer and free us all from nuclear expansion.

Much has been invented at Sellafield, including civil nuclear power, but culling as a humane deer management tool was not. Around 350k deer were culled in the uk last year

Cull seems a drastic solution. having been a countryside manager for the last 20 years I know other solutions are available. this is just the cheapest and easiest. however the fencing caused this and you should have been aware if that at the time. panel removed and allow them to move out of their own accord.

Yet again we choose to take the easy convenient way out instead of the humane one. Show some compassion.
