Culling is not the most humane course of action, but seems that for Sellafield Ltd it is simply the quickest and most convenient course of action. These animals should be released, and everything should be done to make sure they are released quickly and safely. Culling them would be cruel and totally unnecessary.

Totally unnecessary - just move them out of the area - it might be more trouble to do this but it is certainly the kindest and most ethical route.
