I support the alternative proposal of the Friends of the San Pedro River. I have enjoyed both trees on many visits. Losing the big tree would have a big effect on the birds that come in to that particular spot.

Over the years these trees have been an iconic part of the San Pedro House. Visitors from around the world have rested in the shade and admired the tree, the birds that call it home, and the San Pedro River.
I support the alternative plan presented by the Friends of the San Pedro River that includes continuing attention by certified arborists and fencing to keep visitors out of the fall zone.

This tree shpuld be allowed to remain. It is a landmark classic cottonwood and habitat for many birds. Let it die naturally.

Unless this tree is dead and a fire hazard, it should remain as it is. It is a nesting site for numerous Arizona birds. Do not destroy their habitat!

I want to echo the comments of all the other signatories in urging the BLM to reconsider its proposal and leave this magnificent specimen of cottonwood standing. Spending time under this tree is a highlight of our frequent trips to the San Pedro House. Considering its age and bulk, this tree may very well be the cottonwood's equivalent to the majestic sequoias in the Sierra Nevada. We don't cut those trees down and this iconic tree shouldn't be cut down, either.
I'm all for the safety of visitors to the SPRNCA, so monitoring the health of the tree, timely pruning of diseased branches and cordoning off areas directly below the branches should allow this tree to remain in its place for more years until its natural death. Thank you.

I went here as a child n remember this tree. It's not hurting anyone to keep it there. It's part of the habitat there.
