I grew up in the area, cotton woods should not be cut down the land never revives from the loss. It just become scrub.

Please do not harm this magnificent tree! It is a wonder of nature! Our southwest riparian areas need these trees to serve as safe havens for multiple species that contribute to the ecological diversity we so need in this globally threatened time. This tree, especially, serves to remind us of this fact.

There is not even a way to fully express what an egregious permanent error it would be to remove this tree. Without recognition of the value of nature and all that definition entails, the BLM might as well just switch to managing the garbage dump. If you can't manage what DOES matter now and to future generations, then get out of the BLM and leave it to someone who can work around their own inconvenience. To remove that tree is a stupid as amputating your grandmother's foot because she needs her toenails cut. As my dad would say, "your head is for more than a hat. Use it."

The beloved cottonwood trees around the San Pedro House are draws to this area in their own right, and a resource for handicapped people who can't make it to the river to see the birds and trees there. Please prune for safety and health of the tree.
