Its a shame the few naturally beautiful things in sierra vista are destroyed by us daily. Everything has a history and we should appreciate that instead of not caring about things that don't directly affect us. If it doesn't matter to you it most likely does to someone else. Js

Just imagine how much history this tree has seen in it's life time. Please don't take that away. It is such an awesome tree. There are not many trees that looks like this one. It is one of a kind. PLEASE KEEP THE TREE!

The absolute highlight of my trip to San Pedro House was seeing the enormous cottonwood outside the visitor's center. I took a cherished photo next to that tree and have had many coversations with a number of friends about that photo and that specific tree. It is legendary among nature enthusiasts. Please do not cut down this icon. Let it be enjoyed by countless visitors and allow it to continue to inspire us to do better.

I am not sure about contributing to this site because it says clearly the money is to enable them to host more petitions; sounds like paying salaries and costs for the organization. We need a fund dedicated to the Woodsman Spare That Tree fund. T-shirts, bumper stickers....

KEEP this tree living and a part of the ecosystem and landscape at the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area! It's been there for decades.... it's there for the creatures of the air and shade for humans and other mammals. DO NOT CUT IT DOWN.

Moved the damn building if you must, but "Woodsman: spare the tree. I would contribute towards that solution.

Leave the tree alone. This is ludicrous, especially when it is right by a place where many people are outside enjoying it all of the time. That tree is so old and is a part of history, besides in reading the comments it not only is well thought of, and liked, but it also appears to be special enough to stand out as a place of special remembrance, as more than one have had their spread ashes there. Leave it alone. This should not even be an issue. I am also not buying the excuse that it is too expensive to maintain considering the BLM asks for a 90 million dollar budget.

Why would this even be possible? ??

I believe a more sensitive course of action would be to fence off the tree and let it die naturally. No reason for the drastic measures
